Three New Trout Flanks

Derek just finished up three bold and unique trout flanks, a brook and a cutthroat.  Watch for them in 2013 on our new products! You can even order them in a giclee, canvas print or the original under the Store section.

Fresh Off The Easel: “Abstract Brookie Flank” 16″x36″ oil on board

Inspiration: Several years back I spent a couple days on the Ausable River near Grayling, MI. The second afternoon, my friend Chad Brown pointed out a sneaky little slot by an undercut bank. I floated my size 16 adams along the bank, over the deepest part of the hole, and saw the biggest, and brightest brookie of the trip crush my offering.

Fresh Off The Easel: “Abstract Yellowstone Cutthroat Flank” 16″x36″ oil on board”

Inspiration: I painted this Cutthroat Flank to represent the stunning spotting and colors on a Spawning Yellowstone Cutthroat. Some of my favorite fishing of the year takes place early in the summer on some of YNP fantastic cutthroat fisheries. Not only are these trout beautiful, but they are usually very happy to take a fly!
